Welcome

Following the success of the past five Annual Conference of the International Association for Applied Econometrics, our Sixth Annual Conference will be locally organised by the University of Cyprus. The Conference will be held at The Landmark Nicosia Hotel (ex Hilton) in Nicosia, Cyprus, June 25-28, 2019.

The main aims of IAAE are to advance the education of the public in the subject of econometrics and its applications to a variety of fields in economics, in particular, but not exclusively, by advancing and supporting research in that field, and disseminating the results of such useful research to the public. The IAAE conference brings together leading researchers in the field and is a major forum where all aspects of econometrics (theory and practice) are discussed and debated.

“With more than 7.000 students, 113 laboratories and 800 faculty and staff members, the University of Cyprus (UCY) is a young and rapidly expanding university. UCY was established in 1989 & admitted its first students in 1992. It was founded in response to the growing intellectual needs of the Cypriot people and is well placed to fulfill the numerous aspirations of the country. UCY is a vigorous community of scholars engaged in the generation & diffusion of knowledge, in research, innovation and entrepreneurship. Despite its brief history, the University of Cyprus has earned the respect of the international academic community and the appreciation of Cypriot society. UCY is a thriving academic institution listed in all prestigious academic rankings. It’s among the first European institutions attracting research funding from EU. It is worth mentioning that the University attracted more than 65% of the national research funding.”

Cyprus is a European Union member and a major financial, business, tourist, and educational hub in the Mediterranean.  Nicosia is the capital of Cyprus a status it has enjoyed for 1000 years since the 10th century, though its beginnings date back 5000 years to the Bronze Age. Nicosia is a sophisticated and cosmopolitan city, rich in history and culture that combines its historic past with the amenities of a modern city. It is the Seat of Government, Diplomatic headquarters and cultural centre of Cyprus. Nicosia presents two distinct faces: the old, original part of the city, surrounded by sturdy Venetian walls over 400 years old, and a busy modern metropolis.
