CLOSING
Welcome
School description
The Winter School will focus on the support for education professionals and schools to face the present risks to European integrity and specifically how to live and learn together in diversity in a more just and democratic society based on respect for human rights and human dignity. The Winter School will build on the implications this has on the day-to-day practice of education. It will offer practical insights and reflections on how teachers can best make use of the diversity present in their classrooms. It will address issues such as: diversity as opportunity for all, inclusive schools for inclusive societies, asset-based capacity building, participation in social, cultural, political and educational life, constructing positive relationships between the community, the school, teachers and learners.
Expected outcomes
- Raise awareness for the key importance of understanding diversity as an opportunity rather than a problem within their professional context while involving all actors of the community (school heads, colleagues, parents, learners)
- Understand the crucial role that pedagogy and the relationship between teacher and learner play for a democratic and inclusive school and the success of learning together in diversity.
- Identify personal theories and beliefs underlying teacher practices.
- Contribute in their teaching practice to the development of the transversal attitudes, skills and knowledge necessary for living in diverse democratic societies.
- Understand the complexities and opportunities lying within school-community relationships between all actors.
- Take action to promote a teaching practice conducive to the development of democratic culture in their context.
- Question and further develop their teacher identity and professional values to nurture the motivation to change
