The Colloquium welcomes submissions in relation to the proposed conference topic which aims a) to explore unsettling practices (whether they involve displacement through war conflicts, market-led gentrification or local communities’ initiatives) which simultaneously challenge the production of housing environments and dwellings which many times takes place against a backdrop painted by uncertainty and change, and b) to understand uncertainties and instabilities which shape contemporary urban living, to unveil critical concerns on the impact of such unsettling practices on the production of housing environments and to foster an inquiry into potential responses in the form of policies, governance, social innovation, community initiatives and planners’ investments

The address of the current Contact Person is: Richard Sendi (richard.sendi@uirs.si)

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.7.4″ hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″ disabled_on=”on|on|on” disabled=”on”]

Guidelines

Guidelines for writing a working paper
Guidelines for preparing a research presentation
Guidelines for NHRC Mentors

Aim

The New Housing Researchers Colloquium (NHRC) is, primarily, intended for researchers engaged in Ph.D. studies on any housing related topic. It is, however, also open to other researchers that may choose to present their paper in a setting that offers a mentorial critique of their work. The papers presented at NHRC are reviewed by highly experienced senior researchers who provide a critical feedback and suggest improvements for achieving a better scientific quality. In addition to its scientific merits, the NHRC also offers participants the opportunity to meet and make new friends and establish new academic contacts worldwide.

History

What is, today, known as the New Housing Researchers Colloquium (NHRC) was initially called the Young Housing Researchers Seminar. The word “Young” was replaced by the word “New” in the group’s name in 2002 in order to remove any unintended implication of age limitation that might dissuade some researchers from participating in the meetings. It was also later decided, that the group’s meetings be called “colloquiums” and not “conferences” in order to avoid the confusion that often arose between the main ENHR conference and the New Housing Researchers conference.

In the earlier period, Young Housing Researchers Seminars were organised as follow-up meetings of the ENHR Summer Courses, scheduled under the auspices of the then ENHR Working Group on Housing Education. This situation changed after the group’s meetings were attached to the major ENHR conference. According to historical records, the first gathering within the framework of the ENHR took place in 1994 in London. Henceforth, Young Housing Researchers Seminars were organised every year until 2000, when the decision was made by the ENHR Coordination Committee (ENHR CC) to organise them every other year, concurrently with the ‘major’ ENHR Conference. However, this decision is not totally restrictive. ENHR conference hosts are free to consecutively organise a NHRC if they choose to.

Acting on repeated proposals by previous NHRC organisers, the ENHR CC decided, in 2009, to create the role of Contact Person for the NHRC and appointed Richard Sendi to undertake the task. The main task of the contact person is to provide the necessary basic support to the NHRC organisers. Such support might take the form of advice on prescribed topics within the main conference theme, assistance in the organisation of workshops and assistance in the selection of mentors. NHRC organisers are encouraged to refer to the Contact Person for assistance whenever such a need may arise. Likewise, participants in NHRC are also invited to forward to the Contact Person comments and suggestions for improvements following their attendance of a NHRC.

The address of the current Contact Person is: Richard Sendi (richard.sendi@uirs.si)

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

New Housing Researchers Colloquium The New Housing Researchers Colloquium (NHRC) is, primarily, intended for researchers engaged in Ph.D. studies on any housing related topic.
