Dr. Kyriacos Georghiou was born in Famagusta, Cyprus (1950). He holds a BSc (1973) in Natural Sciences and Geography and a PhD (1981) in Biology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), where he has been working until Sept. 2017 for more than 42 years, as Professor of Plant Physiology.<\/p>\n

His doctoral dissertation dealt with Seed Biology and since then he has been involved with numerous research projects on Plant Physiology and Conservation Biology. He has been actively involved in several projects on the establishment of the NATURA 2000 Network in Greece and Cyprus. In particular, he was the scientific responsible in the LIFE Projects:<\/p>\n
Currently, he is participating in the LIFE IP PHYSIS project in Cyprus (2019-2029) as Co-Chair of the Scientific Committee of the project and Scientific Responsible of the NKUA team.<\/p>\n
He has published more than 50 original articles in international scientific journals & books with more than 5,000 citations on his work (\u202aKyriacos Georghiou – \u202aGoogle Scholar)<\/a>. He is one of the co-editors of the \u201cRed Book of Threatened Plants of Cyprus\u201d.
