News alert 20\/5\/2020 – Conference postponement<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n

After very careful consideration of all the parameters regarding the Coronavirus outbreak, the RC33 Local Organizers have decided to postpone the conference until 7-10 of September, 2021<\/strong>. The main concern has been the health of all conference participants and the limitation of the spreading of this new disease. In addition, many organizations (universities, research centres and international or EU organizations) have restricted their staff mobility and reimbursement which is causing serious stress to participants.<\/p>\n

Thus the following parameters should be noted:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The new dates regarding the conference are 7-10 of September, 2021<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  2. The venue will remain the same, \u201cThe Landmark Hotel\u201d in Nicosia.<\/li>\n
  3. The abstract submission system will reopen so that people may amend\/update their existing work. It will also be possible to submit new work. The system will remain open until 31 of January, 2021<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  4. Please keep checking the conference website for further conference developments.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    After careful consideration of the current Coronavirus outbreak, the Local Organizing Committee still considers likely that RC33 will take place as planned. However, as the situation changes every day and as some countries and come institutions are imposing different restrictions, the Local Organizing Committee will continue monitoring the latest developments and will take all the necessary steps should the situation change.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Kindly note that we will make all the necessary arrangements for participants who do not wish to travel, so that they may present their work remotely.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The main concern of the Local Organizing Committee is the health of all conference participants and the limitation of the spreading of this new disease. Thus, we will continue monitoring the situation and will act along the guidelines of the local Health Authorities and the World Health Organization.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Call for Applications for the 1st RC33 Awards for Best Papers<\/strong><\/h4>\n

    At the 10th RC33 Conference in Nicosia, Cyprus 2020 The Board of RC33 is pleased to announce the introduction of two awards for best social science papers! These two awards will highlight excellent published work by RC33 members. Winning articles will each be awarded a prize of 300 \u20ac. The awards will be presented at the 10th RC33 Conference in Nicosia, Cyprus taking place 7 – 10 September, 2021.<\/p>\n

    RC33 Thematic Focus:<\/strong> Empirical Research and Society<\/p>\n

    [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.25.4″]<\/p>\n

    We live in an era of \u201calternative news\u201d and \u201cclimate change denial\u201d. We experience a political life where the populism prevails over scientific evidence. In such turbulent times, it is important for methodologists to investigate how to encourage society to re-focus on robust scientific evidence.<\/p>\n

    The conference covers the usual methodological interests of our members (qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods).<\/p>\n

    However, we are also interested in discussing the many underpinnings of empirical methodology: ethical, legal, social and political. We are also interested in investigating how to educate major stakeholders (e.g. politicians, the Press and the public) to become good consumers of research findings. Finally, we are interested in preparing younger people (e.g. primary and secondary education children) to develop into research-oriented citizens, i.e., citizens who expect to get answers from research, rather than from elsewhere.<\/p>\n
