Welcome Reception with Jazz Trio

Come early for your registration on Sunday evening (18:30-19:00) and join us for a welcome reception on the UCY campus, under the canopy of the Leventis Senate Building and the beautiful Nicosia sky! Enjoy some local wine and canapés, along with the jazz sounds of the Pavlos Loucaides PDL Organ Trio, generously sponsored by the Department of Business and Public Administration. And don’t forget to visit the photography exhibition in the foyer! The exhibition features 38 photographs of the beautiful Cyprus landscape, organized by the photography group ‘Sto Nissi’ (On the Island) and sponsored by the Rector’s Council of the University.
Tour of the Cyprus Museum

Buses will leave the UCY campus at 17:30 to take us to the Cyprus Museum for a one-hour tour of 11000 years of history. This is the island’s main and largest archaeological museum, showcasing Cyprus’ civilisation from the Neolithic Age to the Early Byzantine period. The museum building itself is also historic, completed in 1924 when Cyprus was still a British colony. The tour is generously supported by the Deputy Ministry of Culture. Gala Dinner by the Sea

Location: Galu Seaside, Larnaca

Air-conditioned buses will depart from Eleftheria Square at 19:30 to transport us to the Gala Dinner, which will take place at Galu Seaside in Larnaca. The evening will feature a buffet with local beverages and desserts, complemented by an unmissable lineup of songs from the local rock band, Time Ride. We can enjoy their energetic interpretation of classic tunes from the ’60s to the ’80s, the best of Southern Rock, and the Blues… as we watch the moon rise over the Mediterranean sea.
A Very Poetic Reception

Join us right after the Cyprus Museum tour (18:00-19:00) at Garden Day and Night (located across from the Museum) for an evening of poetry and music with Monika Kostera and Tommy Jensen. Connect with fellow Scossers and enjoy a generous selection of finger foods from the Cypriot cuisine! With local beer and wine of course.
Tommy Jensen
Tommy Jensen holds a PhD (2004, Umeå University) and is professor in management and organization theory at Stockholm Business School. Jensen teaches in organization theory, ethics, sustainable development and method. Reserach concentrates on capitalism, sustainable development, ethics with focus on organizations and organizational members. Jensen has put 50-60 of Monika Kostera’s poems to music, and he plays in the band Bulletproof Poets.
Monika Kostera
Monika Kostera, Titular Professor in economics and the humanities. She works as Professor in Management at Warsaw University. She is visiting professor at Södertörn University, Sweden, Rennes Université, France, as well as L’Université Paris Nanterre, and Elected Member of the Sociology Committee of the Polish Academy of Science. She writes and publishes texts on organization theory as well as poetry. Her current research interests include organizational imagination, disalienated work and organizational ethnography. Member of Erbacce Poets’ Cooperative, UK, and lyrics author for the band Bulletproof Poets.

Playing with Power
This participatory workshop (that means you will be actively involved) will be a way of learning more about each other and making connections; researching through embodied practices and story-sharing; and creating aesthetic representations as means to critically examine systems and relationships of power, then envision and enact alternative models. It will also be fun! Theatre of the Oppressed tools underpin the accessible games and exercises we will do together, with other aspects of facilitator Rosa Stourac McCreery’s specialisms. You don’t need any theatre experience to take part. Augusto Boal said: “Anyone can do theater, even actors. And theater can be done everywhere. Even in a theater.”
