Goal and Theme
BIOCULTURAL 2015 is an international conference on issues of sustainability in architectural cultural heritage. The conference themes aim to further develop the discourse and debate on sustainable sensitive approaches in the rehabilitation of architectural cultural heritage and the potential application of its sustainable design and planning practices on contemporary architecture. Interdisciplinary approaches, which raise different problems, questions and methodologies that utilize the environmental, social and economic challenges of the built environment at various scales, such as the urban and rural settlements and neighborhoods, buildings and building envelopes and architectural components/materials are sought in the presentations and papers. BIOCULTURAL 2015, through the contribution of academics, researchers, post-graduates, practitioners and policy makers hopes to highlight solutions and future challenges for a more sustainable architecture, based on low energy requirements, local resources, adaptation to climate and landscape and socio-economic well-being of local communities.
