BRAINN Summer School

Learn about the forefront of neurocognitive research methodologies this summer at the Brain Research and Integrative Neuroscience Network (BRAINN) Summer School!

Hosted by the University of Cyprus on 8-12 July 2024, the BRAINN Summer School offers a unique opportunity for both students and researchers from Cyprus and around the globe to delve into the fascinating world of neuroimaging, neurocognitive assessment, neurocognitive treatment, and non-invasive brain stimulation.

Join us for an enriching educational experience where experts from King’s College London, Maastricht University, Ghent University, and the University of Cyprus will share in-depth knowledge and provide hands-on training to attendees in the latest advancements in neurocognitive research.

 Lectures and Training Sessions:

    • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for brain research: experimentation and data analysis. Hands-on training in MRI data analysis for research. Session led by Prof. Steven Williams from King’s College London.
    • Online neuropsychological assessment methods: remote assessment of cognitive performance and mental health using the Cognitron platform. Hands-on training in collecting and analysing data from online assessment. Session led by Prof. Adam Hampshire from Imperial College London and King’s College London.
    • Non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) research techniques and their clinical application: insights into NIBS techniques for research and exploring their potential across various cognitive and affective conditions. Hands-on training in transcranial direct and alternative current stimulation (tDCS and tACS). Session led by Prof. Alexander Sack from Maastricht University and Prof. Chris Baeken from Ghent University.
    • Online neurocognitive rehabilitation methodologies: introduction to the Categorization Program and its online administration through the CAT-BRAIN software. Hands-on training in the accurate interpretation of the results. Session led by Prof. Fofi Constantinidou.

The detailed program of the Summer School with all the instructors will be available on the website of the project BRAINN here.

    About the Summer School

This summer school is an integral part of the EU-funded project BRAINN, aimed at advancing the research and innovation capacity of the University of Cyprus by collaborating with internationally recognized partners in brain research. The project focuses on addressing the impacts of COVID-19 on brain health, enhancing the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of mental and cognitive impairments associated with post COVID-19 challenges. The methodologies and knowledge generated during BRAINN will be transferable to other conditions affecting brain health. More information about the project can be found here.

By participating in the BRAINN Summer School, you will be part of a groundbreaking initiative that aims to elevate the standards of neuropsychological research and treatment in Cyprus and Europe. This is an unprecedented opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field and network with fellow enthusiasts.
