Dr. George Giaglis

Dr. Giaglis is Professor of eBusiness at the Athens University of Economics and Director of Institute for the Future, University of Nicosia. He has published more than 150 research papers on eBusiness, Information Systems, Social Network Analytics and the organizational implications of digital money and blockchains. He serves on the Editorial Board of Ledger, the first academic journal on distributed ledgers and blockchains.

Dr. Soulla Louca

Dr. Soulla Louca is a Professor and the Director of the Blockchain Initiative at the University of Nicosia. She is one of the first academics to get involved in Blockchain technologies (2014) when she assumed the responsibility of the Blockchain Initiative at the University of Nicosia. The Blockchain Initiative has designed and developed the first MSc worldwide in Digital Currency, the technology for publishing academic certificates on the blockchain (http://block.co/) and organized several events including Decentralized 2017 (www.decentralized.com ). She holds a PhD in Computer Science from Illinois Institute of Technology. Prof. Louca has been involved in numerous international ICT projects including the National Science Foundation (NSF-USA). During the years 2008-2014, she served as the chair of the Domain Committee for ICT for the 36 Member States of the European program COST, participated in numerous pioneering research activities and promoted the ICT policy in Europe.

Konstantinos A. Karasavvas, PhD is a computer scientist with more than 15 years of experience in software systems architecture and design in various projects. He worked in various different domains, from bioinformatics to the financial sector. He has spent more than 10 years working on distributed computing, multi-agent, web/grid services, workflow systems and data streaming and integration technologies leading to several publications in journals and conferences. Specialties: Systems Engineering & Architecture, Distributed Systems and SOAs, Blockchain technologies, Agile methodologies (Java, Ruby, Python, C/C++, C#, Perl, …). Currently he is a Blockchain research engineer for the University of Nicosia Blockchain Initiative.

Antonis Polemitis

Mr. Polemitis is the CEO of the University of Nicosia and also serves as a Director on the coordinating Board of the University. Mr. Polemitis has international experience consulting private equity firms, merchant banks and multi-billion dollar private investment funds, in business process outsourcing and higher education practice. He leads the industry advisory committee for the University on blockchain and co-teaches the introductory MOOC of the MSc in Digital Currency Program.

Dr. Christos Vlachos

Dr. Vlachos is the CFO of the University of Nicosia and EDEX-Educational Excellence Corporation Ltd and co-founder of Globaltraining. He is member of the Council of the University of Nicosia.

He has served on the Boards of various public companies listed on the Cyprus Stock Exchange including Sharelink Financial Services, Logicom and White Knight Holdings and is the author of the best seller book "International Financial Reporting Standards" (in Greek Language).

Dr. Vlachos began his career in the audit practice at PwC. He is a qualified accountant, member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

He holds Ph.D. in Accounting from Middlesex University and an M.B.A. from Edinburgh Business School (Heriot-Watt University).

Odysseas Christodoulou

Mr. Christodoulou is co-founder and CEO of Globaltraining and the COO of EDEX-Educational Excellence Corporation Ltd. He is member of the Council of the University of Nicosia. He is responsible for all professional education programs of the group and campus development in Greece and Romania.

He has served on the Boards of several banking and financial firms listed on the Cyprus Stock Exchange including CLR Financial Services and Ancoria Bank.

He is also an elected member of the International Assembly of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and of the Council of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPAC of Cyprus.

He began his career in the audit practice at PwC. He is a qualified accountant, member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He holds a Master Degree in Accounting and Finance from Maastricht School of Management and he is a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, UK and the Institute of Management Accountants, USA.

Spyros Makridakis

Spyros has held teaching and research positions with several European and American institutions: as a research fellow with IIM Berlin, an ICAME fellow at Stanford University and a visiting scholar at MIT and Harvard.

He is now the Director of the Institute for the Future of the University of Nicosia and an Emeritus Professor at INSEAD that he joined in 1970. He has authored, or co-authored, 24 books including Forecasting, Planning and Strategy for the 21st Century (The Free Press), Forecasting: Methods and Applications, 3rd ed. and Forecasting Methods for Management, 5th ed. (Wiley, translated in twelve languages and sold more than 120,000 copies) and Dance with Chance: Making Luck Work for You. He has also published more than 150 articles and book chapters. He was the founding chief editor of the Journal of Forecasting and the International Journal of Forecasting. Spyros' current interest centers on the uses and limitations of forecasting and what we can do with the resulting uncertainty and risk as well as the forthcoming Artificial Intelligence (AI) Revolution.

Irene Patrikios

Irene leads the Admissions team of the Blockchain Initiative and is responsible for the communication of the Initiative with all relevant stakeholders (collaborators, faculty, students, etc.). Among others, she performs program-related support functions which require applied knowledge of all Blockchain Initiative programs policies and procedures. She holds a BA in Public Relations, Advertising and Marketing from the University of Nicosia and is currently pursuing an MBA at the University.

Andreas Vlachos

Andreas is a Research and Teaching Assistant for the Master's program of Digital Currency at the University of Nicosia. He is lecturing the undergraduate course "Blockchain Technologies and Applications" and conducting research on Blockchain adoption worldwide as well as co-administrating the MOOC and the MSc program. He obtained a BA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Kent in the U.K and an MSc in Digital Currency, being one of the 23 people in the world accredited with the relevant degree.

Kyriacos is a Research/Teaching assistant at the University of Nicosia researching a wide range of blockchain technology applications and how they benefit the industry sectors they disrupt. Kyriacos earned his Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Nicosia.
