Prof. Philippos Patsalis is a scientist with a huge contribution to the establishment and development of research and academic activity in our country with international recognition in the field of Human Genetics and Biomedical Sciences. He is considered one of the pioneers of development and subsequent continuous upgrading in Cyprus for the last 30 years of competitive research, development and provision of specialized biomedical services and the provision of educational and academic activities in the fields of Human Genetics and Biomedical Sciences. He has held top academic and administrative positions, such as Minister of Health of the Republic of Cyprus, Chief Executive Director of NIPD Genetics and Medicover Genetics, Chief Executive Medical Director of The Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics, Professor and Provost of the Cyprus School of Molecular Medicine, President of the National Council of Research and Innovation of Cyprus, Board member of the European Society of Human Genetics, and others. Professor Patsalis holds over 200 international patents, has authored 11 books, published more than 140 scientific articles, and delivered over 240 presentations at universities and international conferences as an invited speaker.
