The International Working Group on Non-Dominant Varieties of Pluricentric Languages (WGNDV) is pleased to announce its 12th conference on Pluricentric Languages and their Non-Dominant Varieties. The principal theme of the conference is Pluricentric Languages in the 21st Century: Resisting Dominance?. WGNDV12 is organized by the University of Cyprus in cooperation with the Open University of Cyprus, and, will be held at the University of Cyprus and online (hybrid mode), on October 7-9, 2027.

Types of Contributions

Individual paper by one or more authors

• • Presentation: 20 minutes + 5 minutes for discussion
  • Abstract (in English): 400-600 words, excluding references
  • 3 to 5 keywords

Panel Proposal

• • Panels should have a chair and up to four papers related to the same theme

  • Panel proposals should be submitted as a single file containing all four abstracts

  • Presentation: 20 minutes per p+aper + 10 minutes for discussion per paper, totalling up to 2 hours / 4 papers. The chair of the panel is free to establish how the session is structured, for instance, all presentations first and a longer discussion session at the end or a discussion session immediately after each paper

  • Abstract (in English): 400 – 600 words, excluding references

  • 3 to 5 keywords 5

Submission of Abstracts

1. 1. Please make sure your abstract contains the theoretical framework, your research objectives, methodology and main findings.
   2. Abstracts should be anonymous.
   3. Applicants may be the first author of only one accepted paper in the conference and may also participate as co-authorsof an additional paper or chairs of a panel.

January 31, 2027

Notification of Acceptance:

All submissions will be peer-reviewed and participants will be informed of the outcome by March 7, 2027

Mode of Participation

• • Hybrid (face-to-face AND online). A limited number of individual papers will be accepted for on-line presentation
  • For authors participating online, their pre-recorded presentations will be streamed, with only the question-and-answer session held live

Publication of Papers

The organizing committee is planning to publish selected papers with PCL Press, and potentially also edit a special issue with an international journal. Participants will be informed about the selection process during the conference.
