Psychopathy

The Society for the Scientific Study of Psychopathy (SSSP) held its 10th biennial meeting at the stunning Coral Beach Hotel & Resort in Paphos, Cyprus, from May 16-19, 2024. Nestled along the beautiful Mediterranean coast, Paphos provided a picturesque backdrop for the conference.

Over 150 researchers from 19 countries from all around the world gathered to participate in the event, which featured 13 symposiums, numerous oral talks, and insightful workshops.

The conference offered a platform for the presentation and discussion of research in the field of psychopathy, such as “Treating children with conduct problems and callous-unemotional traits using parenting Intervention”, “Utilitarian Harm Mediates the Relationship Between Callous Affect and Moral Decision Making”, “Psychopathic traits and the acquisition of hostile expectations when deciding under threat”.

The conference also celebrated outstanding contributions to the field. This year’s award recipients were:

🔹Essi Viding – “Robert D. Hare Lifetime Achievement Award”
🔹Natalie Goulter – “Jevon Scott Newman Early Career Contributions Award”
🔹Emily Perkins – “Post-Doctoral Paper Award”
🔹Sarah Lynch and Emma Rodgers – “Cheryl-Wynn-Hare Award”

Attendees enjoyed numerous networking opportunities through social events such as the Student Social Event, Welcome Reception, Conference Dinner, and various excursions, all taking place under the clear blue Mediterranean sky. These activities fostered collaboration and connection among researchers, enhancing the sense of community within the field.

The event was expertly organized by the University of Cyprus, the Society for the Scientific Study of Psychopathy, and the Cyprus Psychologists Association, with significant support and sponsorship from the Department of Psychology at the University of Cyprus.
