The 14th International Space Syntax Symposium (SSS14) took place at the Old Campus of the University of Cyprus from June 24 to 28, 2024. This prestigious event brought together more than 200 researchers and academics from 36 countries.
The Space Syntax Symposium aims to unite scholars, practitioners, and students working on Space Syntax and related approaches worldwide. It provides a platform to share knowledge, discuss theoretical and methodological advances, explore practical applications, and foster collaboration across disciplines.
The Chair of the Local Organizing Committee was Professor Nadia Charalambous from the Department of Architecture, University of Cyprus. The committee members included Ilaria Geddes, Christakis Chatzichristos, Chrystalla Psathiti, Eleni Hadjinicolaou, Pelagia Kavalou, Ragaella Christodoulou, and Solon Xenopoulos.
The conference was organized by the University of Cyprus, with support from Neapolis University Pafos. Love Cyprus and the Cyprus Convention Bureau were the sponsors of SSS14. The UCY Department of Architecture is one of the four departments of the School of Engineering at the University of Cyprus, offering four basic areas of study: architectural theory and history, architectural communication media, architectural technology, and urban design. The event featured multiple parallel sessions, workshops, and poster presentations. Attendees enjoyed a welcome reception at the venue and a walking tour of Nicosia, highlighting the city’s unique architecture. The conference dinner was held at the Old Powerhouse Chill Bar, providing ample networking opportunities for fellow researchers.
SSS14 embraced a hybrid format, offering both onsite and online participation for those unable to travel. EasyConferences served as the local coordinator, ensuring a seamless experience for all attendees.
