About the Theological School of the Church of Cyprus

 The “Theological School of the Church of Cyprus” (TSCC) is a newly established (2015), private, non-profit, Higher Education Institution (HEI), under the auspices of the Archdiocese of the Church of Cyprus. The TSCC operates in restored buildings-monuments, at the historic centre of Nicosia, inside the Venetian city walls. Around the premises are the Archdiocese palace, the cathedrals of St Barnabas and Saint John, the older school of Cyprus, Pancyprian Gymnasium and many museums and historic buildings and monuments.

The mission of TSCC is to operate as an established academic, research, educational and spiritual centre, which prepares theologically qualified clerics for the Orthodox Church, as well as theologian-educators for secondary education and postgraduates who can serve and improve the psychological well-being of individuals and groups in communities. These aims mostly achieved through the two programs offered: Undergraduate Programme (BA in Theology, 4 years/240 ECTS) and a Postgraduate Programme (MA in Applications of Psychology and Counselling in the Community, 2 years/120 ECTS). Academic members and master students of the Master program are involved in research and applied topics on adolescence such as identity and possible selves, immigrant adolescents’ well-being, bullying, religiosity, delinquency, educational program for young prisoners.

TSCC holds an Erasmus+ Charter since 2017 and has many inter-institutional agreements with Departments of Religious Studies and Psychology in Europe. Currently, TSCC is an active partner in three Erasmus Programs (KA2 The Golden Thread: Building Family Bonds and Parenting Skills as a Means to Reduce Recidivism in European Prisons, KA3 Socially Excluded youth of MEdia Literacy) and coordinates a KA2 small scale partnership (Advancing Ultimately Green Environments). Moreover, TSCC is a live institution with educational, scientific, and social outreach activities to the society of Cyprus. TSCC organizes scientific conferences, trainings, cultural meetings, volunteering activities in collaboration with several NGOs.

Both the TSCC seven permanent members of the academic staff and the rest of the research/teaching staff work hard to establish academic excellence and high quality of infrastructure and exhibit high research potential. The variety of the academic staff’s research interests, ranging from Theology to Psychology, History, Education and Culture, Classical Studies, Clinical Psychology, Methodology and Statistics promote an interdisciplinary, dynamic educational and research institution
with wide and great potentials. The School’s academic staff is very active and proactive; they are involved in various research projects, present and disseminate their work in national and international conferences, and publish their research as monographs, articles in peer-reviewed journals, and book chapters in collective volumes. All members of TSCC, academics and administrative staff, have enthusiastically agreed to get actively involved with the organisation of the EARA Conference 2024 and to work hard so as to offer you a unique, unforgettable and enjoyable experience.
