The Mediterranean Accounting Conference (TMAC) 2025 took place from June 22 to 25 at the Grecian Park Hotel, a five-star venue overlooking the stunning Mediterranean Sea. The event brought together 94 academics, researchers, students, and practitioners in the field of accounting from 19 countries, including Portugal and Hong Kong, fostering a diverse and vibrant academic environment.

Co-hosted by the University of Cyprus and Tel Aviv University, the conference served as a dynamic platform for the exchange of ideas, collaboration, and the advancement of knowledge in accounting research and practice. The Organizing Committee, composed of Einhorn Eti, Levi Shai, Weiss Dan (Tel Aviv University), and Charitou Andreas, Karamanou Irene (University of Cyprus), ensured the smooth and professional execution of the conference.

Academic Highlights

The academic program featured five distinguished keynote speakers, who showcased their research:

  • Thomas Hemmer (Rice University): “When Markets Give You Lemons…”
  • Lakshmanan Shivakumar (London Business School): “Uncertain Information Advantage and Price Discovery: Evidence from Data Vendor Dissemination Differences”
  • Richard Sloan (University of Southern California): “Do Sustainability Reports Contain Financially Material Information?”
  • Wim A. Van der Stede (London School of Economics): “The Information Organization: On Changes in Information Technology and Organizational Design”

An award ceremony was held during the conference, where the Organizing Committee honored the keynote speakers and recognized the winners of an internal participant survey. Attendees were invited to vote for up to three papers and three discussants, with papers authored by Organizing Committee members excluded from the competition.

Unforgettable Social Experiences in Protaras

Participants also enjoyed a rich social program. The welcome reception in the hotel’s scenic garden offered breathtaking views of the Mediterranean, along with local canapés and drinks, fostering a warm and collegial atmosphere. The conference dinner delighted attendees with traditional Cypriot cuisine, local wines, and live music, encouraging everyone to take to the dance floor. Participants had the opportunity to discover the beauties of Limassol and Paphos through a full-day excursion.

A highlight of the social activities was a boat trip to the Blue Lagoon on June 23, offering a unique chance to explore one of Cyprus’ most captivating coastal gems.
