The 21st Symposium on Statistical Challenges in Electronic Commerce Research (SCECR 2025) was completed with success on June 24, 2025, in the picturesque town of Paphos, Cyprus. Held at the elegant Elysium Hotel, a five-star resort by the Mediterranean Sea, the event brought together 173 academics, researchers, students, and practitioners from 19 countries—including Hong Kong, Canada, and the United States—to explore cutting-edge topics in electronic commerce research.

The organizing committee, including Panagiotis Adamopoulos, Michail Batikas, Chris Dellarocas, Apostolos Filippas, Giannis Kanellopoulos, Harris Kyriakou, Panos Markopoulos, Christos Nicolaides, Georgios Petropoulos, Vilma Todri, and Konstantina Valogianni ensured the smooth operation of the symposium and an enriching experience for all participants.

The conference featured a dynamic academic program with multiple parallel sessions covering key thematic tracks including “Advertising, Consumer Behavior, and AI,” “Work, Learning & Creativity,” and “AI, Policy, and Workplace.” Each presentation lasted 12 minutes, followed by a 3-minute Q&A, encouraging lively discussions. Additionally, 38 short paper sessions, featuring five-minute presentations, provided emerging scholars with an opportunity to present their research.

Social events played an important role in fostering the community. A relaxing welcome reception in the gardens of the Elysium Hotel, where guests enjoyed stunning sea views, set the tone, followed by a speed networking event. On Monday, attendees explored Paphos with a guided tour that stopped at the UNESCO-listed Tombs of the Kings and the medieval Paphos Castle. That evening, the conference dinner offered a festive celebration with traditional Cypriot cuisine, live music, and spirited dancing.

Participants also had a full-day excursion to Limassol, discovering historic sites such as the Ancient Kourion Amphitheater and the modern Limassol Marina. The closing social event included a wine tasting in the panoramic village of Kathikas, followed by a fresh fish meze at a seaside taverna in Latsi, offering a perfect blend of business and leisure in one of Cyprus’s most beautiful regions.

Reflecting on the symposium’s impact, Chris Dellarocas remarked: “SCECR continues to be a vital platform for advancing our understanding of the digital economy. We’re thankful to all participants for their insights and contributions—together, we’re shaping the future of electronic commerce research.”

The committee expresses its gratitude to SCECR 2025 supporters: Nanyang Technology University, Questrom School, MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy, Miami Herbert Business School, Freeman School of Business, Naveen Jindal School of Management, NC State University, Heinz College, Carlson School of Management, NYU Stern School of Business, and Rutgers University.
