Organization Studies

From June 23 to 29, 2025, the 16th International Symposium on Process Organization Studies (PROS 2025) and the 5th Colloquium on Philosophy and Organization Studies (PHILOS 2025) brought together 219 academics, researchers, and students from 26 countries to the beautiful island of Evia, Greece. Hosted at the luxurious Negroponte Resort Eretria, the two co-located conferences explored the themes Embodying Process (PROS) and Aesthetics & Organization (PHILOS), drawing in the international community of organizational studies with a week of intellectual stimulation, artistic inquiry, and cross-disciplinary conversation.

Over the week, PHILOS and PROS participants engaged in thematic discussions on topics such as Aesthetic expressions of power to and power over, Management & organizing, and Time and temporality under PHILOS, and Embodiment and corporeality in organizations and societies, AI, work, and organizing, and Process perspectives on organizations under PROS. Scholars and emerging thinkers alike had the opportunity to hear from a prestigious line-up of keynote speakers, including Mark Johnson (University of Oregon), Rosemarie Garland-Thomson (Emory University), Alexandra Michel, and Sabrina Strings (University of California) for PROS, and Mi You (University of Kassel) and Timon Beyes (Leuphana University Lüneburg) for PHILOS.

PHILOS 2025 also featured a standout artistic-technical performance by Jesus Agnew, who presented Striving for Analog Perfection and Expanding Degrees of Freedom—a live demonstration transferring sounds of the conference onto lacquer discs, blending sonic memory and archival artistry. Another memorable moment came from the presentation Sculpting Music and Material by Maryam Izadifard and Saku Mantere, which explored how music, material, and thought converge in the space of organizational expression.

The serene backdrop of Eretria and the island of Evia set the perfect tone for meaningful discussions and social engagement. Delegates mingled at welcome receptions in the lush gardens of the Negroponte Resort, enjoying local canapés and drinks with the Aegean Sea shimmering in the background. Conference dinners at nearby tavernas offered a taste of traditional Greek cuisine and culture, with participants creating lasting memories, deepening existing collaborations, and forming new academic bonds.

Professor Haridimos Tsoukas, one of the convenors of both PROS and PHILOS International Symposia, expressed his gratitude to all participants, highlighting the importance of sustained research in organizational studies. “Thank you for being part of this extraordinary gathering. Your contributions continue to shape the evolving dialogue in our field. Events like PROS and PHILOS underscore the critical role organizational scholarship plays in understanding the human condition in our working lives,” he said.

EasyConferences once again provided expert coordination support for the event. Through its Online Registration System, attendees could reserve accommodation at special rates and purchase tickets for social events. The next editions of the PROS and PHILOS International Symposia will be held from June 22 to 28, 2026, at the Minoa Palace Resort in Chania, Crete. Organizers look forward to welcoming both returning and new participants to another unforgettable week of thought leadership, cultural immersion, and organizational insight in one of Greece’s most captivating destinations.
