Head of Secretariat, European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet)

Kate Larkin is a marine scientist (Ph.D. 2006) and science-policy professional with over 20 years of experience in the domain of marine knowledge, working at the science–policy-industry-society interfaces. She is Head of Secretariat for the European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet), the EU in situ marine data service and in situ marine data component of the European Digital Twin Ocean.

In her role, she works directly with the EC and EMODnet’s 133 partner network to deliver the operational data service and leads EMODnet’s partnerships across research, policy, the Blue Economy and non-governmental organisations, from policy uptake and use to corporate data sharing. She is also Lead Manager for Marine Knowledge at Seascape Belgium, providing leadership and advice for EU projects and contracts including MARCO-BOLO and the European Topic Centre for Biodiversity and Ecosystems.
