
Dr. Michalis Mavrovouniotis

Dr. Michalis Mavrovouniotis received the B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Computer Science from the University of Leicester, UK (2008), the M.Sc. degree in Natural Computation from the University of Birmingham, UK (2009), and the Ph.D degree in Computer Science from the University of Leicester, UK (2013). He is currently the Coordinator of the Big Earth Data Analytics Department at the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence. His research interests include evolutionary computation, neural computation, swarm intelligence, memetic computing, combinatorial optimization problems, heuristic and metaheuristics, artificial intelligence in dynamic and uncertain environments, and relevant real-world applications. He has contributed to several funded research projects (with partners in both academia and industry). Dr. Mavrovouniotis has more than 70 peer-reviewed publications (with h-index of 30 according to Google Scholar) in international scientific journals, books, and conference proceedings. He has been included in the Stanford University World’s Top 2% Scientists lists, and in the Top 0.05% Scholars Worldwide in the field of Ant Colony Optimization. He is currently the Chair of the IEEE Task Force on Evolutionary Computation in Dynamic and Uncertain Environments, a member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society and an Associate Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy.
