Special Issues

MEDPOWER 2026, the 15th International Mediterranean Conference on Power Generation, Transmission, Distribution, and Energy Conversion, will provide a comprehensive forum to address the key energy challenges and opportunities in the Mediterranean region. The conference will cover technological innovations in renewable energy generation and conversion, as well as advancements in power-system design, operation, planning, and stability. Special emphasis will be placed on the integration of renewable energy sources and distributed energy resources, energy storage solutions, microgrids, and local energy communities.

The event will also explore the role of digitalization, artificial intelligence, and data-driven management in modern power systems, along with the cybersecurity and resilience challenges associated with smart grids. Low-carbon buildings and energy-efficient communities, regulatory frameworks, policy and financial models, and the social and economic implications of the energy transition will also be key topics of discussion.

MEDPOWER 2026 aims to foster high-quality research, innovation, and collaboration in the Mediterranean energy sector.

All submitted full papers will undergo a peer-review process by an international scientific committee. Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings and published in IET Inspec and IEEE Xplore, subject to plagiarism and quality requirements.  The proceedings will be submitted for inclusion in SCOPUS.

Extended version of Selected papers will be submitted for publication consideration in two special issues. The author guidelines for the special issues will be announced on each special issue website.

SPECIAL ISSUE Journal publications

The Scientific Advisory Committee of MEDPOWER 2026 will identify high-quality papers in each thematic area and invite the authors to submit an extended version for potential publication in reputable scientific journals, subject to peer review. These journal publications will be in addition to inclusion in the official conference proceedings of MEDPOWER 2026. Publication in each of the journal special issues (SI), is subjected to the review and publication rules of each journal.

Sustainable Energy, Grids and Networks (SEGAN)

Sustainable Energy, Grids and Networks (SEGAN) is an international peer-reviewed hybrid publication for theoretical and applied research dealing with energy, information grids and power networks, including smart grids from super to micro grid scales (Site score 9.2, Impact factor 5.6).

SEGAN welcomes papers describing fundamental advances in mathematical, statistical or computational methods with application to power and energy systems, as well as papers on applications, computation and modeling in the areas of electrical and energy systems with coupled information and communication technologies.

Executive Guest Editor for the Special issue entitled: “Selected papers from the 15th Mediterranean Conference on Power Generation, Transmission, Distribution and Energy Conversion (MedPower2026)” will be Prof. Andreas Poullikkas. Dr Venizelos Efthymiou will act as Co-Guest Editor.
