CAiSE Conference 2024

The 36th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAiSE 2024) was successfully held from June 3-7, 2024, at the picturesque St. Raphael Resort in Limassol, Cyprus. Organized by the University of Cyprus, the conference welcomed over 200 researchers from 30 different countries, who enjoyed the renowned Cypriot hospitality.

The 36th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAiSE 2024) was successfully held from June 3-7, 2024, at the picturesque St. Raphael Resort in Limassol, Cyprus. Organized by the University of Cyprus, the conference welcomed over 200 researchers from 30 different countries, who enjoyed the renowned Cypriot hospitality.

Attendees had the opportunity to present their work, engage in discussions with colleagues, and participate in a variety of sessions, including workshops, tutorials, forums, and the Research Project Exhibition.

The conference featured keynote presentations from three distinguished speakers:

  • Prof. J. Mark Bishop (Emeritus Professor of Cognitive Computing at Goldsmiths, University of London) delivered a keynote titled “The Colour of Cognition: From Abstract Computation to the Lived Mind.”
  • Prof. David Harel (The William Sussman Professorial Chair, Dept. of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics) presented “Two Projects on Human Interaction with AI.”
  • Prof. Dr. Sören Auer (Leibniz Universität Hannover) discussed “Towards Neuro-Symbolic AI with Knowledge Graphs and Generative AI.”

Several awards were presented during the conference to recognize outstanding contributions:

  1. Best Paper Award to Eva Klijn, Felix Mannhardt, and Dirk Fahland for “Multi-Perspective Concept Drift Detection: Including the Actor Perspective.”
  2. Distinguished Paper Award to Isis Roca, África Domingo, Oscar Pastor, Carlos Cetina, and Lorena Arcega for “Comparing MDD and CcD in the Bug Localization Context: An Empirical Evaluation in Video Games.”
  3. Distinguished Paper Award to Hanan Alkhammash, Artem Polyvyanyy, and Alistair Moffat for “Stochastic Directly-Follows Process Discovery Using Grammatical Inference.”
  4. Best PhD Thesis Award to Glenda Carla Moura Amaral for “An Ontology Network in Finance and Economics: Money, Trust, Value, Risk and Economic Exchanges.”
  5. Distinguished PhD Thesis Award to Alberto Garcia S. for “Understanding the Code of Life: Holistic Conceptual Modeling of the Genome.”

The conference was expertly chaired by Prof. Haris Mouratidis and Prof. Pnina Soffer, with Prof. Giancarlo Guizzardi and Prof. Flavia Maria Santoro serving as Program Chairs.
