The ICAT-EGVE 2018 conference will be held November 07 – 09 in Limassol, Cyprus. This is the merger of the 28th International Conference on Artificial Reality and Telexistence (ICAT 2018) and the 23rd Eurographics Symposium on Virtual Environments (EGVE 2018).
Together these are two of the oldest international conferences in the world on Artificial Reality and Virtual Environments, and provide a unique opportunity for researchers, developers, and users to share their experience and knowledge of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality and 3D User Interfaces. This is a great opportunity to renew old friendships, make new ones, and experience all that Cyprus has to offer.

About RISE
The proposed Research centre on Interactive media, Smart systems and Emerging Technologies (RISE) aims to become a Centre of Excellence and a hub across the three continents bordering Cyprus, facilitating thus the local scientific, technological, and economic growth of the region. It identifies the potential of Interactive Media to bring together several scientific areas, yielding applications in the priority areas of the Smart Specialisation Strategy of Cyprus. Therefore, research in RISE integrates the Visual Sciences, Human Factors and Design, and Communications and Artificial Intelligence, in a tight synergy that provides a unique interdisciplinary research perspective. RISE will operate by embracing the motto “Inspired by Humans, Designed for Humans” producing technologies to work “in the wild” as its guiding philosophy.
Hosting RISE in the heart of Nicosia is part of the strategy of the city to foster the development of an inclusive innovation and creativity ecosystem, with a core in its central area. RISE will be catalytic in this respect; by complementing other infrastructures and services in this area; by mobilizing significant knowledge networks and social capital; by providing a solid scientific base that will encourage the development and application of new technologies and innovative entrepreneurship; by offering support to the start up community and established innovation companies. Multiple synergies are achieved through the establishment and operation of RISE at the heart of the designated Quarter of Creative Industries in the historic centre of Nicosia, while giving a breath of fresh air by turning the island’s (and Europe’s last) divided capital into an innovation hub.
