Our tour will first lead us to the Cyprus Archaeological Museum where a huge collection of important archaeological findings are housed and through which the long cultural and historical heritage of the island is revealed.

Driving along the UN Buffer Zone and the old city of Nicosia, we will see one most unfortunate distinction; the fact that this is Europe’s only militarily divided city since 1974.

We will continue our visit to the old city within the Venetian Walls. Afterwards, Archbishopric, St. John’s Cathedral and the Liberty Statue which are situated in the heart of old Nicosia. ‘Laiki Yitonia’ is a beautifully restored 18th century neighborhood within the Walls which has kept the traditional style of the old times’ market, restaurants and narrow paved streets with local merchants and craftsmen displaying their hand-made products.

Walking through the legendary as well as contemporary shops of Ledras and Onasagorou streets, we will reach ‘Levention’ Municipal Museum. It is the only historical museum of Nicosia reviving the old ways of Cypriot life from ancient to present times.

The excursion will finish with a sumptuous lunch with local wine and drinks at a traditional tavern. Before the end of our excursion, we will spare some time for a stroll and some shopping in the souvenir shops which feature excellent samples of Cypriot history and culture.
