Terence is Head of McCann FitzGerald’s Employment Group and is recognised as one of Ireland’s leading employment law experts. He advises and guides organisations in this complex area and works with employers on all aspects of employment, equality and industrial relations law.

Expertise

Terence has vast experience of advising both private and public sector employers as well as practical experience of dealing with industrial relations employment and equality law cases before the Labour Court, LRC, Employment Appeals Tribunal, Equality Tribunal and the courts including employment injunctions. He regularly advises on emerging public sector issues including emergency legislation and its impact on pay and pension as well as the moratorium and industrial relations issues.

He advises in senior executive director disputes and works with Boards in dealing with the management of such issues. Also dealing with senior executive remuneration in the financial sector, having regard to the CRD III regime and established regulatory environment as well as the Fitness and Probity regime.

He has also carried out a number of workplace investigations and reviews and completion of reports with conclusions and recommendations including related legacy issues in the banking sector as well as special reports for Boards.

Conscious of a wish to resolve disputes and to minimise their disruptive potential for clients, Terence has established skills in mediation and dispute resolution. He is also a CEDR (Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution) accredited mediator and has participated in mediations and acted as a Mediator.

He has lectured and written widely on all aspects of employment, equality and industrial relations law and runs workshops for clients on a regular basis. His latest publication is the chapter on Redundancy Law in Tottels publication “Employment Law in Ireland”. He is also a member of EELA (European Employment Lawyers Association).
