Cláudia Vaz Póvoa is a Portuguese Employment Lawyer based in Lisbon, graduated at the Universidade Clássica de Lisboa in 2000, with a Post Graduate Course at Universidade Clássica de Lisboa in stock options and the Advanced Certificate of Employment Law (ACEL) in the UK by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Post Graduated in Employment Law by Universidade Clássica de Lisboa and Master in Company Law with specialization in Employment Law by Instituto de Ciências do Trabalho e da Empresa in 2010.

Joined the law firm Neville de Rougemont & Associados R.L. in 2000 and became partner in 2007 being the Head of the Employment team up to the present moment.

Cláudia is specialized in Employment Law and advises both employees and employers on day to day issues having led several collective dismissals, company’s internal restructuring processes as well as the employment side of transfers and undertakings, being often involved in the negotiation process of worldwide employment contracts and the respective termination.

With experience in court Cláudia is used to tackle unfair dismissal, discrimination, and general employment claims.

Also with knowledge in Human Resources matters, Cláudia is experienced in personnel daily organizational issues.

  • Member of APERT (Associação para o Estudo das Relações do Trabalho) in 2004.
  • Member of EELA (European Employment Lawyer’s Association) since 2010.

Publications

Author of “Boa Fé na Formação do Contrato de Trabalho e o regime do período experimental”, (Bona Fide in the preliminary of the employment contract and during the probationary period) published in Estudos de Direito do Trabalho, Coimbra Editora, 2011 as well as of several articles published in Law magazines and newspapers.

Invited by Instituto de Ciências do Trabalho e da Empresa to lecture seminars of the Master in Companies’ Law, with several employment related subjects, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014. Invited as jury member of dissertations in Instituto de Ciências do Trabalho e da Empresa, November 2014.

Speaker on several employment related seminars in cooperation with several employers’ associations and other institutions.
